EA93 – the wideboy show-off display
LG has previewed the EA93, an unusual 29in monitor with a 21:9 aspect ratio, at this year's IFA technology show in Berlin.
Other monitors have aspect ratios of 16:9 or 16:10, but the 21:9 aspect ratio means the black bars on many widescreen videos would be completely absent. The EA93 has a high resolution of 2,560x1,080 pixels - the huge widescreen look ideal for working in multiple applications simultaneously and a utility automatically arranges windows into quarters to make the best use of the available space.

One potential downside to the huge resolution is the very wide dimensions which may be a struggle to fit comfortably on some desks. Due to the massive resolution, a computer will need a HDMI or Displayport socket to connect to it. The EA93 also supports the now rare Dual Link DVI connectors.
The only other 21:9 monitor we've seen is built into a Toshiba laptop, while Phillips also has a handful of 21:9 TVs.
The EA93 won't be available until around January and pricing has yet to be announced, but the EA93 is unlikely to be cheap.
