Amazon finally bringing Kindle borrowing to the UK

Kindle owners in the UK will soon be able to borrow ebooks free of charge, providing they have an Amazon Prime account.

Borrowing books has been a feature absent from Kindles in the UK, but Amazon is finally introducing it to paying subscribers.

People who are signed up to Amazon Prime – the store's priority shipping service – will get free access to over 200,000 titles, including all seven Harry Potter books and other bestsellers from the Kindle bestsellers.

Amazon has confirmed that the service will start in late October but it isn't yet clear if or when Kindle book borrowing will be available to people without Amazon Prime accounts.
