First tablet produced by Microsoft available to pre-order from £399
Microsoft has announced the price of the Windows RT version of its Surface tablet PC.
The basic 32GB Surface tablet costs £399, and can be ordered with a Touch Cover in one of three colours (black, white or cyan) for £479. That's a discount on the usual price of £100 for the Touch Cover.

The 64GB Surface costs £599 and there is currently no discount on offer for the Touch Cover.
A Type Cover, which has moving keys rather than touch controls, can be bought for either version at £110.
The Microsoft Surface is now available for pre order in the UK, as well as Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, and the US.
Microsoft's first ever tablet PC will have an Arm processor and run the tweaked version of the operating system called Windows RT.
It has a 10.6in ClearType HD Display and includes a microSD, USB 2.0, Micro HD Video, 2x2 MIMO antennae. Preinstalled apps include previews of Office Home & Student 2013 RT.

The Surface Pro, which has an Intel chip and runs the full version of Windows 8, is expected to be released later this year.
