HMV merges its website with music-streaming service 7digital

HMV users will retain original benefits of the website and get access to 7digital promotions and promotional offers

HMV's online music store is now being hosted by 7 Digital.

People who have bought music from HMV's website will not see any change to their previous MP3 purchases and downloads, which they can still access.

But when they log on to the HMVdigital website they will automatically be directed to a co-branded 7digital/HMV site, which used its technology to run the HMV site.

7digital said the move was "a natural evolution of the partnership between [the two companies], which began in September 2009 when HMV took a 50 per cent stake in 7digital's business."

The company went on to say that HMV users will retain all their previous benefits, such as HMV exclusives as well as continued access to the same catalogue of over 22 million tracks, but also be able to use 7digital's editorial content and promotional offers.
