Take more control of numbered paragraphs
The automatic numbering of paragraphs in Microsoft Word is very useful, even if you only use bullet points rather than numbers.
Sometimes you might want to start a new line in a numbered section without starting a new paragraph, complete with marker. Pressing the Return key creates a new paragraph.
The solution is to hold down the Shift key while pressing the Return key. This inserts a line break rather than a new paragraph.
It can also be used when typing normally and is a good way to avoid having to change paragraph spacing settings. This tip also works in Open Office Writer and Abiword.
