Safely edit the Windows Registry by using the free program TweakUI
Several folders I use regularly are not easily accessible from My Documents. I wanted to include these folders in shortcuts that appear on the Open and Save windows but most of the solutions involved editing the Windows Registry. A safer alternative is to install TweakUI.
Start TweakUI, click on the ‘+’ next to Common Dialogs and then click on Places Bar. Select the option Custom places bar. Click on the dropdown menus to select from a list of presets, or type into the box to add your own folder to the list.
