Ubuntu’s insistence on a username to use the computer can be annoying. You can avoid this by changing the login screen to display the list of usernames.

Log in with the user account used to set up the computer. Click on System menu and then Login Window. Click on the Local tab and make sure the Style menu is set to ‘Themed with face browser’. Scroll down the list and click on the small circle to select ‘Happy GNOME with Browser’.
