Use an on-screen keyboard to insert foreign characters easily in Windows
I have an alternative way of inserting foreign characters into a document that I think is easier than adding them individually using the Insert Symbol window. To make this work, you will need the correct language installed on your computer.
For example, to install the French keyboard, click on the Start Button and then Control Panel. Click on Regional and Language options in Classic view and then on the Language tab.
Click on Details and then on Add. Select your chosen language and then click on OK. Click on the Language Bar button and make sure the top two options are selected. Click on OK twice.
Click on the Start button, All Programs, Accessories, Accessibility and then On-Screen Keyboard. Click on the Keyboard menu at the top and select 106 keys.
Use the button marked with a keyboard in the Language bar to select a different language and the on-screen keyboard will change. Click on a key to insert that character.
