Enabling hibernation when Windows is installed
Q I recently reinstalled Windows XP and found that I could
not put my computer in hibernation mode even though this was possible before the
reformat.
David Jeffery
A Hibernation is not enabled automatically when Windows is installed. This must be done manually.
Click on the Start button and then on Control Panel. Click on Performance and Maintenance and then on Power Options. Alternatively, double-click on Power Options if you use Classic View. Select the Hibernate tab and click in the box labelled Enable Hibernation. Click on OK to save the changes.
If the Hibernate option is not displayed when the Shut Down menu appears, hold down Shift and one of the options will change to Hibernate.
