How to take screengrabs from a computer

Use the Print Screen button on your notebook

Q I got a new HP G60-120EM laptop for Christmas but I cannot use the Print Screen (PrtScn) button. I push it and nothing happens and there is nothing in the clipboard.

A Many notebooks double up keys to save space and, as it is not used that often, the Print Screen button is often a prime candidate. We have seen it used on the Insert and Pause/Break keys on different laptops. The giveaway is if the PrtScn label is a different colour to the rest of the keys.

There will be a key with ‘Fn’ written in the same colour. Hold this key down then press the PrtScn button to take a screen shot. Alternatively, install the Gadwin Print Screen software, as this can use a different key to take screenshots.
