The Latitude 2110 from Dell is what’s known as a mini-notebook or netbook computer. It’s smaller than a standard laptop, and cheaper, but it’s also a bit less powerful.
This kind of computer is designed for people on the move, students and those who need to work on the move but won’t be doing anything too taxing such as playing games.
The outer casing has a rather strange feel to it, with this rubbery material providing what Dell says is protection against spills, though it’s not in any way waterproof.
There’s a rather large battery on this model, which juts out of the bottom of the device but does make for good battery life. Specification-wise, it’s similar to most other computers at this price: there’s an Intel Atom N470 processor and 1GB of memory.
The screen is a 10in widescreen model that’s quite clear, though it was a bit washed-out for our liking even with the brightness turned up.
In addition to selling to home users, Dell is also aiming the Latitude 2110 at schools: the Mobile Computing station can hold 24 of the computers at once and charge them overnight as well as locking them up securely.
