PC help: Are pictures unsafe?

Attaching images to emails in Outlook Express

Q Outlook Express will not allow me to attach JPEG photographs to emails which I send to friends. I get a message that it has removed access to unsafe attachments.

I have to send the attachments with Yahoo or Hotmail. Is it possible to tell Outlook Express to accept JPEG attachments?
Michael Roe

A The policy of blocking unsafe attachments is not limited to photos but also includes program files. You can turn this off but if you do you should be more careful about adding and opening attachments.

Make sure you have anti-virus software installed to scan email. AVG Free is one such program and can be downloaded here.

Start Outlook Express, left-click on the Tools menu and select Options. Left-click the Security tab and then uncheck the box ‘Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus’. Click on Apply and then OK.
