A malware attack recently exploited the Javascript functionality in Adobe Reader. Here's how to combat it
Q I have read news online of security problems with Adobe Reader due to Javascript. I thought this was only used in web browsers.
John Townend
A We had not realised that Adobe Reader used Javascript either until this security announcement was made. We feel it’s better to turn it off because it can always be re-enabled later if needed.
Start Adobe Reader and click on the Edit menu. Click on Preferences and then on Javascript in the left-hand column. Click in the box labelled ‘Enable Acrobat Javascript’ so the tick disappears and then click on OK to save the change. To re-enable it in future, return to this options window and click in the box so the tick appears.
