Download Microsoft Word Viewer or Openoffice
Q I am trying to open a file with a .doc extension in Adobe
Reader but it keeps telling me that it does not support this file type. I have
Windows 98 SE.
Jack Davis
A Adobe Reader is designed to open files with an extension .pdf, not .doc. Files with a DOC extension are created with Microsoft Word.
You may be able to open these files in Wordpad. Left-click on the Start button, Programs, Accessories and Wordpad. Windows Vista cannot open .doc files in Wordpad, however, if using Vista, download the Microsoft Word Viewer. Alternatively download and install Openoffice as this can open and edit Word files.
