Use Microsoft's TweakUI Powertoy to edit the shortcut arrow options
Q I would like to remove the arrows from the shortcut icons on my desktop in Windows XP. Is there an easy way to do this?
Ian
A The simplest way to do this is to download the Microsoft TweakUI Powertoy. Click on the Powertoys link on the left, Powertoys for Windows XP and then TweakUI, you may need to scroll down the page to find this link. It is only 147KB so it will not take long.
Double-click on the file when it has downloaded and follow the installation wizard.
Left-click on the Start button, All Programs, Microsoft Powertoys for Windows XP and then TweakUI. Click on the small plus next to Explorer in the left-hand column and then on Shortcut to see the different shortcut arrow options.
The After icon shows how the change will look. Click on None option to remove the arrows altogether and then click on OK.
