Mobilis Bump Backpack laptop bag review

A rucksack for carrying laptops that will protect the computer if dropped

We drop a laptop in this protective bag to see if it works

The Mobilis Bump Backpack laptop bag is a rucksack with a protective compartment for portable computers.

It has a sprung base that acts as a kind of suspension system if the bag is dropped, with the springs absorbing the energy of impact and protecting the delicate computer components from damage.

We tested this by placing a laptop in the bag and dropping it froma height of about five feet while the laptop inside the bag was playing a video file.

We dropped the bag five times in total. On one occasion the laptop restarted itself after the drop but on the other four drops the video file continued to play without any interruption.

The spring-loaded section of the rear compartment can be removed to increase the storage capacity of the bag, and the front section contaibs plenty of space for a few books and a notepad.

The straps of the Bump Backpack cover the zip of the main section so so it's harder for opportunist thieves to take the laptop out of the bag.

The Mobilis Bump Backpack laptop bag costs €73 (£60) including VAT and delivery.

If you'd like to buy it, you'll need to order it from the French Mobilis website:

http://www.mobilis.tm.fr/index_us.htm

Type bump into the search box on that site and click Buy, then follow the instructions (make sure you select the UK as your delivery country).

This looks like a great product, but where in the UK can you buy it? I have only found links for the manufacturer in the US and Netherlands and some resellers in continental Europe (who either have none in stock or have no English version of their sites).

Sorry about that. It seems you need to order the bag using the French website - they will post it out to the UK. Unfortunately the Mobilis website isn't very well designed so you need to search it for 'bump' and then click Buy.
