Many downloads come as ISO files, here's how to use one to create a CD
Q I have been trying to download Windows XP Service Pack 3
from the Computeractive website. The download appears to work but it opens with
Roxio Media Creator 9. What is going on?

A The download from our site is a kind of file known as an ISO. This file is used to create a Service Pack 3 installation CD. It is much simpler than having to download and copy the thousands of files that you might otherwise find on a CD. It is not possible to just copy the Service Pack 3 ISO file onto the CD. Roxio Creator can create discs and when it is installed it is set up to automatically open when an ISO file is double-clicked. Follow the instructions in the Roxio window to create the disc and then use the disc to install Service Pack 3.
