PC Help: Rogue dialogue box

How to get rid of a rogue dialogue box caused by Nero

Every time I turn off my computer (which uses Windows XP Media Center Edition) a dialogue box entitled ‘cdirectorychangewatcherhelper’ appears. It causes no trouble except slowing the PC when shutting down. What does this dialogue box mean and how do I get rid of it?

This error message can be caused by several programs but it’s commonly caused by Nero Scout, which is part of the Nero 7 software. It’s a database of music and video on your computer’s hard disk and it can misbehave, causing problems when shutting down.

If you have Nero installed, it’s easy to disable the Scout program. Open My Computer from the Desktop or the Start Menu, then right-click on the Nero Scout icon, then click on Options. Remove the tick from the box marked Enable Nero Scout, then click on OK. Restart the computer (you might see the error message one last time).
