Sheila Marchant asked us if her router and printer would be compatible with Windows 7. Here's our advice
Q I’m planning to buy a laptop with Windows 7 installed. However, I am wondering if I will need to replace any of my existing hardware, specifically the Belkin modem/router I use and a Lexmark X3690 all-in-one printer. Both work fine with my current Windows Vista laptop.
Sheila Marchant
A Your Belkin modem/router will work fine because routers are not fussy about the computers or other devices connected to them.
It makes no difference to the router whether you are connecting a PC running Windows XP, Windows 7, a Macintosh, Linux PC or a games console. A laptop running Windows 7 should have no problem connecting to your router.
Make a note of the wireless security settings as you will need the network name and password to connect. If you use a cable to connect to the router, just plug it in.
To make your Lexmark X3690 printer compatible with Windows 7 you will need to download the appropriate driver update from the support section of Lexmark's website.
