Q I use Roxio Creator Suite to manage my digital photos and Mozilla Thunderbird to send emails. To avoid sending huge attachments, I use the Roxio Media Manager to select photos to email, which then resizes them and adds them to a new email.
I recently sent the files to someone but they found that they could look at
the images but not save them to their computer. What am I doing wrong?

A This is an unfortunate combination of the way in which Thunderbird imports the pictures and the way the email software at the other end interprets them. You will notice that Thunderbird includes the images in the body of the email rather than as ordinary attachments.
They must be attached manually, but this doesn’t mean that Roxio can’t be used to resize the images first. Find the photos to be resized in the Roxio Media Manager and select them. Left-click on the Email button. Select the option ‘Other’ (eg Yahoo, webmail) and then the size you want the photos to be adjusted to.
Click on OK. Roxio will display a window asking where to put the new photos. It is easiest to create a new folder on the desktop so that they are easy to find. Click on OK and Roxio will make the adjustments.
Start Thunderbird and click on the Write button to create a new email. Left-click on the Attach button and find the folder that contains the photos. Either select them all by clicking and dragging the mouse around them, or press Ctrl and A together to select all the files in the folder.
Click on Open. The photos will appear in a box on the right-hand side of the Compose window and once sent, will be easy for the recipient to save.
