PC help: Stop keystroke loggers

Q Am I correct in thinking that by using the onscreen keyboard facility in Windows XP I am immune to intrusion by keystroke loggers?
R Watson

A Not quite. Only the very simplest of keystroke logging programs work by monitoring what’s being typed.
More recent and more advanced programs will watch what’s being input onscreen instead, so any keystroke entries will be logged, whether they come from a physical keyboard or an onscreen one.

The best way to ensure that you’re not being tracked online is to make sure you have up-to-date anti-spyware and anti-virus programs installed, and that they’re run at regular intervals. If either
has ‘immunisation’ or automatic checking features, these should be enabled.

You should also have a fully configured firewall running. Go to www.windowsupdate.com and follow the prompts to Critical Updates. If none are listed, the computer is up to date.

Something to add...

I would also like to add that there are basically two types of anti-keylogging software. The first type is the software, using signature bases. For example SpySweeper(www.webroot.com/). The principle of such siftware's work is simple. It analyzes all the content of your RAM and HDD and if it finds files similar to thos in its signatures than it puts them to quarantine, from where they can be deleted, resored or blocked. The second type of the anti-keylogging software uses methods of heuristic analysis. For example Privacy Keyboard(http://www.anti-keylogger.com/) It analyzes all the active modules on the pc and if it finds whose behaviour is similar to keyloggers it blocks them. Such a product doesn't require any updtes of its signatures as it just do not have them. The chois is yours:)
