Personalise Windows folders with logos

Customise your Windows 7 desktop

q-a-logo

Q I have just upgraded my computer to Windows 7 from Vista and I want to personalise my folders with logos. Is this possible?

Hilary Mee

A There are several ways that you can personalise folders in Windows 7 but they all come from the same place. Right-click on the folder and then left-click on Properties. Click on the Customise tab. Select the kind of files contained in the folder in the top dropdown menu.

The section below is used to choose a picture to identify the folder. This won’t replace the icon instead it will be the picture poking out of the folder. Click on the Choose File button, select a picture and click on Open. Click on the button below, Restore Default, to reverse your changes.

Finally, you can change the icon used for the folder by clicking on the Change Icon at the bottom. This will display a selection of icons available in Windows. Select one and click on OK, or if you have your own icon file, click on the Browse button and select that instead. Click on OK.
