Simple clear advice in plain English

Switch program windows more easily

View previews before selecting application windows

q-a-logo

The normal method of quickly switching between programs in Windows XP by holding down the Alt key and pressing the Tab button repeatedly works, but there is not much information about the windows in the selection, especially if there are several entries from the same program.

There is a more advanced version as part of the Microsoft Power Toys. Click on Taskswitch.exe in the Alt-Tab Replacement section on the right. It should only take a few minutes to download and install.

After it has installed, pressing Alt and tab together shows a preview of the selected window on the left of the Task Switcher window. The traditional list of icons will still be shown on the right of the window. The preview will stay on the screen as long as you hold down the Alt key.
