Show Google toolbar on your web browser

How to make Google toolbar reappear in Internet Explorer or Firefox

Q I have the Google toolbar installed in my web browser. It disappeared very suddenly and I don’t know how to get it back.

Olly Carter

A The likely cause of the problem is that the toolbar has become hidden in your browser. Both Internet Explorer and Firefox can hide toolbars to reduce clutter on screen and it is easy to restore them. Click on the Tools button in Internet Explorer, Manage add-ons and then Enable or Disable Add-ons.

Look for the Google Toolbar entry in the Manage Add-ons window. If it is there and the status says Disabled, click on it once and then on Enable in the Settings section at the bottom. Click on OK.

Firefox is slightly different. Click on the View menu and Toolbars. There should be an entry in this menu for the Google Toolbar. Click on it once and it should reappear.

If it does not, or there is no entry for it in the menu, click on the Tools menu and then Add-ons. Look through the list of Add-ons that appears for Google Toolbar and check for any error messages.

Sometimes add-ons are not compatible with updates to Firefox. Click on the Find updates button to see if there is a new version. Firefox should do this automatically but it doesn’t hurt to check. Add-ons will be disabled automatically if they are not compatible with a new version of Firefox until an update is available.
