Faststone Capture is a good alternative to the Print Screen function
I use the Print Screen key to print parts of web pages and emails. However, Faststone Capture is a good alternative and offers many options not available in Windows. I can select what is captured, restrict the capture to rectangles or draw with the mouse around a specific area. Once the screen has been captured it can be edited before saving. It can also print them or save screen captures to the clipboard. They can even be sent directly to Word or Powerpoint.
Faststone Capture can be downloaded here. It can be used for 30 days without charge, but at $20 (about £12) it is worth paying for. There is also a portable version that can be installed on a USB memory key and used on a different computer.
