The new Wildcharger is a pretty flashy piece of kit

Adapters that charge lots of devices have been around for some time – since Nokia has again changed the plug on its chargers it’s handy to have one product that will charge several kinds of phone.

The new Wildcharger is a pretty flashy piece of kit – basically, you just lay your phone down on the charging pad and it charges, although you have to plug in the appropriate adapter. It comes with the iPhone adapter but you might have to pay for the others.

It looks good and was versatile although at times was awkward. I found when using the plug with the adapter the plug became too bulky. So I couldn't actually use it on my desk as it took too much space – I ended up having to leave it where the plug could actually fit. Not great if you don't want to leave your iPhone lying around.

The protective cover for the iPhone coupled with the charger killed two birds with one stone. But if you already have a protector, and we all know how fiddly they are to get off and on, then this isn't a selling point.

The kit costs about £60 but you can buy the pad on its own without the various adapters for £50. Aside from the overall look of the product, the other positive feature is its ability to charge multiple phones simultaneously. It was handy having the clutter of multiple chargers lying around the office and house replaced with one device.

But unfortunately there are a few downsides. Although you can charge multiple phones, you only get one of these Powerdiscs with each kit. As you can see the phone’s adapter plugs into the Powerdisc meaning if you had two similar phones you wouldn't be able to charge them at the same time.

It would be good be able to get separate Powerdiscs for each phone. Something else the company might consider for the future is to incorporate a solar panel into the Wildcharger, which is something that would make it more attractive.

Overall the Wildcharger is an OK product but with a few improvements it could be great.
