Why can't I get Microsoft Onecare?
Q Having read in Computeractive about using
Microsoft’s Onecare Live security program, I recently downloaded it. It seems to
work well, but when I tried to upgrade the trial edition to a full subscription,
I was directed to an error page. I now understand that the current version is
only available to users in the USA. Would it therefore be wise to uninstall it
and go back to Norton or another supplier’s software?
Mike Webb
A The full version of Microsoft Onecare is only available to users in America at the moment, although the trial edition can be used by anybody. Since it’s not possible for you to upgrade your copy, the safest thing to do would be to go back to the original program. Otherwise, try installing the free alternatives, such as the Zone Alarm firewall and AVG anti-virus utility.
