Use accents in Word documents by giving each one a toolbar icon
I have found a helpful way to insert accents into Word documents by giving each one an icon on the Toolbar. Left-click on the downwards pointing arrow at the end of a toolbar and click on Customise.
Click on All Commands in the Categories column and then on ‘Symbol:’ in the right-hand column.
Drag this icon to the toolbar and a window will appear for choosing the symbol to insert. The icon will insert the character in a specific font so click in the font menu at the top and select the font you want to use. Click on the accented character and then OK.
It is also helpful to change the text used for the button as the reference number won’t mean much when there are several icons. Click on the Modify Selection button and then inside the Name text box.
Type a description or to insert the character, hold down the left-hand Alt button and then type the number in the name using the small calculator keyboard on the right it won’t work with the normal numbers at the top of the keyboard. Repeat for as many characters as you need.
