Simple clear advice in plain English

Open programs automatically on start-up

Save time by setting Windows to open a program automatically when you boot up your PC

q-a-logo

You can save time by setting Windows to start programs automatically when you turn on your computer. Right-click on the Start button and click on Open. A Windows Explorer window will appear showing the shortcuts in the Start Menu. Double-click on Programs and then on Startup.

You can now drag and drop programs from the Start menu into this folder. This will move the icon so it will not appear in the old location any more. Drag and drop with the right mouse button to see an option to copy the icon rather than move it.

If you want that program to launch on start-up when others are using the PC, select Open All Users from the menu that appears when you right-click on the Start menu. Follow the instructions as above when this folder opens. Be careful not to annoy people by doing this as they may not be able to change it.
