Set your music free in iTunes
It can be frustrating to find that music purchased and imported in Apple’s iTunes application won’t work in mp3 players (except iPods, obviously), as they’re stored in the company’s AAC format.
Programs like dBpowerAMP can convert the files but this can prove time-consuming and expensive.
Luckily iTunes itself can convert them.
On the Edit menu choose Preferences. In the window that appears, click on the Advanced tab, then the Importing tab underneath it. Change the ‘Import Using:’ drop-down menu to MP3 Encoder. Click on OK and highlight the required songs. On the Advanced menu choose Convert Selection to MP3. The songs will be converted into the library.

Convert music file format
I have bought 3 albums and am trying to convert them to MP3's but it keeps telling me that my files are protected and cannot be copied....... I guess this would only be for new downloads.
