Manually deleting the file from your hard disk may be the only answer
Q My anti-virus software has detected four Bytverify Trojans, but it will not delete them. The advice given is to manually remove these files, but the information on how to do this is not clear.
According to Virgin Media, my ISP, the anti-virus protection it provides is an adapted version of Bitdefender.
However, as this is included as a free service, the company would not provide me with any further help unless I was prepared to subscribe to a costly technical support package.
I’ve tried without success to follow various bits of advice on online forums, including deleting the files and doing a virus scan in Safe Mode with System Restore temporarily disabled.
Someone else I know suggested installing AVG to remove the offending files, but I’m reluctant to do this as it would involve uninstalling and later re-installing my current
anti-virus protection with no guarantee it would work. Can you help?

A Clearly you’ve already tried quite a few things. However, from the information provided in the screenshots you supplied, it seems that the reason the Virgin Media-branded version of Bitdefender is refusing to remove these particular infecting files is because they’re compressed (zip) files.
In other words, the virus is contained within the zip files and Bitdefender won’t remove them automatically in case they contain other files you do want to keep.
The solution, then, is to manually delete the zip files from your hard disk. Use Windows Explorer to navigate to the folders highlighted in red by Bitdefender and then delete each of the zip files in turn.
It’s also important that you subsequently empty the Recycle Bin (otherwise Bitdefender will simply find them again): just right-click on it and choose Empty Recycle Bin.
