Even if you've deleted the program, you should still be able to get the sound back
Q My laptop slowed down so much that I decided to remove some programs from the hard disk. I found one called Sonic and, assuming it was a game about a high-speed hedgehog installed by my grandkids, I deleted it.
However, it now appears that my PC has no sound, save for the odd beep. It is Toshiba Satellite Pro circa 2006. Can the sound be restored?

A Toshiba is a large company and, as such, a vast support area is maintained on the company’s website. This covers models going back many years, so it should be possible to download and re-install the sound drivers that came with your PC.
However, without the specific model number of the laptop we can’t direct you to the precise page. We suggest you look on the laptop’s underside to locate its model number and then visit the Toshiba support page.
Select Laptops, Satellite Pro and then the model number. Now click the red Go button to see what’s available. Chances are that the correct sound drivers will be available to download.
