Create multimedia discs and backups with a burning suite
Nero Burning Rom
Newer versions of Windows include so many disc-burning features built in that you might wonder why you need a separate burning program.
The answer is that they make creating compilations or copies much easier.
Nero Burning Rom, included in Nero Multimedia Suite but also sold separately, is one of the top tools in this category, and does pretty much anything when it comes to burning files to CDs, DVDs or Blu-ray discs.
The alternative: CD Burner XP
There is no shortage of free disc-burning programs, but few are both reliable and simple to use.
CD Burner XP has, as its name suggests, been around quite some time, and is now a mature and polished program.
It doesn't overwhelm you with technical detail and the default options work well in most cases, but more experienced users can tweak the settings if needed.
It supports a large selection of disc burners, including Blu-ray drives, and, of course, it's free.
Total saving: £40
