A firmware or driver update may resolve this problem
Q I have a Toshiba Satellite L300 laptop. It came preloaded with Windows Vista but I have upgraded to Windows 7 Home Premium.
The problem is that now the function (F) keys on the top row no longer work. Before you ask, I know that you have to hold down the FN button to make them work.
Is there a setting that I may have upset by upgrading to Windows 7 or is this a known problem? More importantly, is there a fix for it?

A Other people have complained of this issue. The fix is to apply the many firmware and driver updates that Toshiba has released over the years. We cannot tell you precisely which ones because we don’t know which versions you are currently using.
The best bet is to visit the driver downloads area of the Toshiba website and compare the version numbers against those installed on your laptop. Then download and install the latest versions as appropriate.
