Most modern mobile phones can be used to display files such as documents and pictures. We explain how you can transfer and view these on your phone
Most mobile phones have a USB socket for connecting to a PC. If you want to access files on the phone, you may need to be careful to select the correct option when the phone is connected.
Some mobiles need to connect in a special mode to work with the manufacturer's software but you may not want to install this if all you are doing is copying photos onto a friend's PC.
The setting to use is usually called USB or mass storage. If this is enabled Windows will see the phone just like a USB memory key.
Phones should ask what option to use when the USB cable is plugged in, otherwise you may need to check the manual.
For Sony Ericsson phones, at the main menu, select Settings and then Connections to see the option for USB. For Nokia phones select Settings, then USB, then select Mass storage from the menu that appears.
