How do I export a contacts list from Windows Live Mail?

Create a useful printed backup of your address book contacts

The CSV file can contain all the contact information you choose

I like to keep a printed backup of my contacts and have found that the best way to do this is to export the address book from Windows Live Mail to Open Office Calc, not least because the contacts aren’t exported in any useful order.

Click on Contacts in the left-hand column of Windows Live Mail. Click on Export in the Ribbon and on Comma separated values (.CSV).

For Windows Live Mail on Windows XP, press the Alt button, click on File, Export and Comma Separated Values (.CSV). Next, select a name and location using the Browse button and click on Next. Select the information to include and then click on Finish.

Open this file in Open Office Calc. Press Ctrl and A to select the whole workbook. Click on the Data menu and then Sort. Select the ‘Range contains column labels in the Options tab. Select the columns you want to sort by in the Sort Criteria tab and click on OK. The list is now sorted and ready to print.
