Many companies provide downloadable drivers for hardware on their websites
Q I bought a Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 4000 that came with a CD-Rom containing drivers but my laptop doesn’t have a CD or DVD drive, so I can’t install them.
The shop that sold me the mouse said that if I plugged in the mouse’s transmitter then Windows 7 would recognise it and it would work right away. This was true, but only up to a point.
The mouse’s side button doesn’t work and, while the scroll wheel moves left and right, it seems to have no effect in my applications. Is there anything I can do to activate these features?
Terry Batchelor
A Yes, just download and install the drivers from the Microsoft website. The tool you need is called Intellipoint.
The simplest way to find the latest version for your PC is to visit the Microsoft drivers download page, click the ‘Software for Microsoft keyboard, mouse, and fingerprint reader products’ link and then follow the prompts.
