Simple clear advice in plain English

Keep files on the Windows Desktop

Moving files on to your Desktop means they are easy to find and keep organised instead of having to search for them on your hard disk every time you need them

You can also use Stardock Fences to organise your Desktop

I keep all the files I am working on at any given time on the Windows Desktop. This means that they are close to hand and I don’t lose them.

It is simple to add folders to the Desktop to keep things organised. Right-click on an empty part of the Desktop, left-click on New and Folder. Give the folder a name and press Enter. Now you can drag and drop files into the folder.

Computeractive adds: This arrangement can be improved by using the free tool Stardock Fences to organise the files on your desktop or by keeping the files in a Dropbox folder so they can be accessed from other computers. Click here to download Dropbox.
