Simple clear advice in plain English

I've lost my Firefox 3.6 bookmarks following an upgrade to version 4

Bookmarks can disappear following an upgrade but there is a solution

Firefox has a web page that covers almost every bookmark fix

Q I recently upgraded my browser from Firefox 3.6 to version 4. However, in the process I somehow lost all my bookmarked pages. Is there any way to retrieve them or are they lost forever?

Mozilla, the company that develops Firefox, acknowledges that bookmarks may be lost during “normal usage” of its browser. This extends to the possible loss of bookmarks following upgrades between versions.

Firefox 4 doesn't lets you keep bookmarks, and wont let u keep toolbars as well,it deletes everything I know I've tried it as i was using Firefox 3.6 and the next update took me to Firefox 4,so have just plainly stopped using firefox 4 and there is no way of going back to Firefox 3.6 as it wont let you.Firefox's answer everybody elses stuff has to be upgraded and its not their problem, what a load of rubbish its Firefox's problem so if you want to keep your things just forget firefox

Upgrading to Firefox 4

I too upgraded to Firefox 4 and lost everything previously mentioned by other contributors - bookmarks, spellcheck, some files even. I had heard that you couldnt go 'backwards' with Mozilla Firefox but I gave it a go anyway and successfully downloaded Firefox 3.6 again, which brought up a message at the top of the page that there was now a newer version of Firefox available and that I should download Firefox 4. Having successfully re-loaded Firefox 3.6 I took a deep breath, closed my eyes and deleted Firefox 4 from my system. No problem. Everything was back to how it was previously. My advice for what its worth, don't touch Firefox 4 unless you want to lose most of what you already have on your homepage or anything else previously mentioned. I'm still using Firefox 3.6 and will continue to do so until and unless Mozilla Firefox decide otherwise; if they do then they will lose a user.

Firefox saved passwords gone

I installed Firefox 4 but lost all my passwords and it now doesn't offer to remember logins or passwords. It runs faster and seems to work well but no passwords is frustrating.

firefox

hello u will be pleased to know u can now upgrade to firefox 5 without losing anything, but firefox has now brought out firefox 6 please leave that alone as u will get the same problems,so to keep what u have do this ive tried it and it works so far go into tools on firefox page, click on options/advanced/updates/and take all the ticks out,and u shouldn't be bothered with when it brings out an up-grade and loose all the tool bars and safe log-ins
