Whether you are writing a recipe or a complicated reference book, it is possible to create manageable lists and sub-sections to improve their appearance
It is possible to create bullet-pointed or numbered lists within lists in Word 2003. This is useful for making long lists more manageable.
Click on the Format menu and then Bullets and Numbering. Click on the Outline Numbered tab at the top and choose a suitable style.
The Customize button can be used to change the style of the list including how far different sections are indented from the edge of the page and the markers used for each item.
Input the first list item and press enter to create another item at the same level. Press the Tab button to move to the next level in. This can be repeated several times.
To create another item at the previous level press Shift and Tab together. Word 2010 has an icon for this function. To access it, click on the Home tab in the Ribbon. The icon should be on the right of the numbered list icon in the Paragraphs tab.
