An upgrade to Internet Explorer 9 makes bookmarks go missing
Q I downloaded Internet Explorer 9 and have lost my Favorites. How do I get them back? I am using Windows Vista.
Bob Henderson
A Internet Explorer 9 manages Favorites (its term for ‘bookmarks’) differently to other versions of the application. This has caused some confusion for many people who have upgraded.
In Internet Explorer 8, Favorites are accessed using the Favorites button on the far left of the toolbar, just next to the first open tab.
In Internet Explorer 9, this button has been both moved and redesigned. It is now a small white star button at the top-right corner of the application window, between a white Home button and a white Settings button (that resembles a cog).
Click the Star button (or press the Alt and C keyboard shortcut) and Favorites will open at the right of the window. There is also a ‘pin’ button to fix the Favorites panel at the left of the window, as in Internet Explorer 8.

It's quite simple
I found this site during my search to figure out how to restore hundreds of bookmarked pages that i accidentally deleted, Yikes!! I use IE9 by the way. The good news is it was very simple to do so: Computer -- C: Drive -- Users -- Your User Name -- Favourites ( right-click on this and choose 'restore previous versions'. A window opens up that shows all the previous versions, you can open each of thes options to see their content. The great thing was it kept the new pages bookmarked after the accidental delete while restoring the previous version :D
