The free iPlayer Desktop app lets you take your entertainment with you
I have found a good way of taking videos on holiday that doesn’t require packing a large stack of DVDs; the BBC iPlayer Desktop app. This also avoids charges for trying to access the internet abroad.
First you will need to download download Adobe Air. Then go to the BBC's iplayer site and move your mouse over a program you want to download. Click on the bottom right icon that looks like an arrow pointing into an open box.
This will take you to the iPlayer Desktop page where you can download the software. Once installed you can opt to download the program to your computer.
Most videos can be watched for a week after the first viewing. The iPlayer app will list all downloaded programs and tell you how long they have left.
