Why can't I print from websites when using Internet Explorer 9?

To fix this problem either revert to IE8 or visit Microsoft's support page

Internet Explorer 9 and Canon printers suffer incompatibility problems

Q  For some reason, I am unable to print websites visited using Internet Explorer 9 (IE9). I know it’s not a problem with the particular web pages, as they print fine if I’m using IE8 or Firefox 4.

When I try to print from IE9, the browser displays the error message: ‘script error -line 2053-unknown fault-res://ieframe.dll/preview.js’.

I have a Canon printer attached to a Windows Vista PC. I have tried re-installing IE9. Can you help?

A  This is a known problem when trying to print from Internet Explorer 9 using certain Canon printers.

According to Microsoft, this error message may appear when trying to print multiple pages onto one sheet of paper or when particular settings, such as scaling and colour profiles, are changed.

The problem can also rear its head in other applications that use a particular printing technique. In other words, in addition to a few possible causes there are other circumstances in which you may experience this glitch.

There’s only one fix – and that’s to download and apply the requisite patch from Microsoft’s website. To learn more about the problem, its resolution and locate the correct download for your operating system, click here to visit the Microsoft Support page.
