Save time spent waiting by the printer by configuring Windows to send you an alert when your documents are printing
If you don’t sit next to your printer, having a message appear on your PC's screen when your job has started printing can be very helpful, otherwise you could find yourself waiting while someone else is printing off a long piece of work.
Windows can do this but sometimes this function is disabled. You can enable it with a simple change to the Registry, but always be careful when making changes to the Registry.
Hold down the Windows key and press R. Type regedit and press Enter. Click on the plus symbols next to the following options: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, SYSTEM, CurrentControlSet, Control, Print and then Providers.
Double-click on NetPopup. Change the Value Data to 1 and click OK. Close the Registry Editor and restart your computer.
If you want to disable the message, repeat the process but change the 1 to a 0.
