When using Audacity to edit a big project, the software's ability to divide the track with markers can make all the difference to knowing where you are
If you are editing a large project in Audacity, it can be tricky to remember where different sections of the track are, and it only takes a quick change to the zoom level to get lost.
Although it’s not obvious, Audacity can add a label track to a project where you can create markers for different sections. Click on the track at the exact point where you want the marker to appear and press Ctrl and B together.
The Label track will appear if it wasn’t already visible and you can start typing. To create another label, click on another part of the track and press Ctrl and B again.
Although this tool is a little basic – there is no way to move through a marker when editing and they are not easy to move – it can make all the difference on long projects.
