Update your blog more easily

A combination of Windows Live Writer and Wordpress will allow you to write updates and see them as they will appear on the site

Windows Live Writer makes updating a blog much easier

I really enjoyed the articles in issues 351 and 352 about writing a blog using Wordpress. I have been writing a blog for 18 months and found that Windows Live Writer makes writing updates much easier.

It can be downloaded as part of the Windows Live Essentials suite. Click on the Essentials link at the top and follow the instructions to download.

Before starting Windows Live Writer, Wordpress must be told to give it access. Log onto Wordpress, click on Settings on the left and then Writing. Select the XML-RPC option at the bottom of the page and click on Save changes.

Start Live Writer and the configuration wizard will appear. Select Other blog service and click Next. Enter the address of the blog, your username and password.

Allow it to detect the theme by making a temporary post. Click Yes. Give the blog a nickname and click Finish.

You can now write updates and see them as they will appear on the site.
