The fatal error code 1603 seems to occur often among people trying to upgrade Skype. There are several good suggestions of fixes on the provider's forum pages
Q When I try to upgrade Skype to a later version, it fails, displaying the message: “Installing Skype failed; code 1603. A fatal error occurred during installation”. I have tried to uninstall the program (via Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel) but the same error pops up.
I’ve had a look on the web and it seems to be a common problem among others trying to upgrade. Can you help?

A As you told us nothing at all about your PC setup there’s little we can do, other than repeat your observation that it seems to be a common issue and refer you to Skype’s own support pages, where several possible solutions are offered.
The most comprehensive thread we’ve found is on the Skype Community forum, so we hope you find something useful there.

You'd better hope your phone has wifi and can acsces hotspots (although that may not even work due to different countries having different regulations on wifi) or your cornhole will be thoroughly fisted by the telecoms. Was this answer helpful?
