You will need a video capture device to connect the Sky+ box to your laptop
Q I have several TV programmes recorded on my Sky+ box that would like to keep long-term, but I do not have a VHS or DVD recorder.
Is it possible to transfer the TV shows to the hard disk on my laptop, from which I could burn a DVD? My laptop runs Windows 7 Home Premium.

A Yes, though you’ll need to buy a video capture device that can connect the Sky+ box to your laptop – the £40 Pinnacle Dazzle will do the job.
Procure a Scart to either S-video or composite lead (the Dazzle supports both) to connect the Sky+ box to the Dazzle and then follow Sky’s own instructions for recording to VHS/DVD.
The Sky+ box doesn’t ‘know’ that it’s attached to a video-capture device rather than a VHS/DVD recorder so, when you execute its Copy option, begin the recording process on your PC (the Dazzle comes with Pinnacle’s Instant DVD Recorder software, which will take care of things).

Are there no PVRs we can SCART directly to?
Are there no PVR's that we can SCART directly from the Sky+ box to and yes by using their COPY facility to perform the transfer directly onto the HDD. This is what I want to do as I have no actual DVD burner at all.
