If you save an old contacts list as a CSV file, it can then be imported into Google Mail, thus saving you the time and effort of having to type them all in one by one
If you’re new to Google Mail, it’s possible that you have an existing contact list that you want to import, both so the addresses are close to hand and so that they are not marked as junk emails (or spam) by mistake.
Google Mail can import contacts if they are saved in a CSV file, this is a plain text spreadsheet where cells are marked with commas. Most email programs can export contacts in this format or you can make your own if you use column headings of First Name, Last Name and Email Address.
Log in to Google Mail, click on the arrow next to Gmail on the left and then Contacts. Click on More and then Import. Click on Browse, find the CSV file and click on Open. Click on Import to complete the process.
Go to the Google Help pages for more information.
