Online adverts can be annoying but installing the Adblock Plus add-on will stop them from distracting you.

Click on the Firefox button in the top left-hand corner of the browser and click Add-ons. Ensure that Get Add-ons is selected in the left-hand column, click in the search box at the top right and type Adblock.

Click the install button in the row for Adblock Plus and the program will be downloaded. Click the Restart now link to complete the installation.

When Firefox starts again a tab will be displayed with some information about Adblock Plus. An icon for Adblock Plus will also appear in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen.

You can use this icon to disable Adblock Plus on websites whose adverts you don’t mind seeing. Click on the icon and click Disable on computeractive.co.uk, for example. Refresh the page to see the changes.
